Cambridge Science Carnival returns to the Kendall/MIT Open Space on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 12:00pm to 4:00pm, closing out MIT Future Fest with a free, open air celebration of science, technology, engineering, art and math for the whole family. Produced by the MIT Museum, Carnival is one of the Cambridge STEAM calendar's biggest annual draws, drawing tens of thousands of visitors in past years.
More than 100 activity booths fill the open space with hands on demonstrations, experiments and challenges, alongside the ever popular Robot Zoo, live music and an adventure playground built for curious visitors of every age. No tickets or registration are needed to attend.
Carnival caps the larger MIT Future Fest, a five day campus wide festival running September 30 through October 3 that features 100+ speakers and immersive exhibitions across MIT.
Unlike the main festival, which requires a paid pass and is oriented toward an adult audience, Carnival on October 4 is free and open to the public.
