We are thrilled to announce that the much-loved Cambridge Science Carnival will take place, bigger and better than ever, on Sunday September 21, 2025, in the Kendall/MIT Open Space.Last year, an estimated 20,000 visitors passed through the Kendall/MIT Open Space, taking part in 150 STEAM-themed activities offered by more than 400 members of the Cambridge STEAM community, and all of this in just 4 hours.
A family-friendly science extravaganza, Carnival is a beloved yearly highlight of the Cambridge STEAM calendar! Over 100 activity booths, demonstrations, live music, and installations, including the ever-popular Robot Petting Zoo, come together for one day.
Carnival is a STEAM-themed adventure playground for inquisitive visitors of all ages. We can't wait to see you there and celebrate our diverse, creative community together!
Cambridge Science Festival, the first of its kind in the United States, is a city-wide celebration showcasing the leading edge in science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM).
It's a celebration of ingenuity, creativity and innovation. Highlighting pioneers in science, technology, engineering, art, and math, the Festival is a multifaceted, multicultural event, making science accessible, interactive and fun.
This year's festival features everything from lab tours and demonstrations to futuristic fashion shows, from environmental kayak adventures to pub trivia nights, from public art installations to the unmissable, family-friendly Science Carnival - a gigantic STEM extravaganza complete with robot petting zoo and liquid nitrogen ice cream freeze off competition.
Comprising hundreds of events, workshops, lectures, demonstrations, multidisciplinary collaborations, family-friendly exhibitions and interactive experiences, CSF is a STEAM-themed extravaganza highlighting Cambridge’s diverse innovative community.
This fall, another electrifying pop-up festival lights up the Open Space, in the heart of Kendall Square and across the city of Cambridge.
Every CSF event is free and open to the public.
The week-long celebration combines all the magic and mayhem of modern science in an action-packed program of events, demonstrations, workshops and performances.
Come see a show, grab a bite, get involved and stay for the day.
