boston lights a lantern experience at franklin park zoo photoExperience the return of Boston Lights: A Lantern Experience at Franklin Park Zoo, a wildly popular annual summer tradition! This year, take in new displays of gorgeous lanterns found in every corner of the Zoo.

Prepare to be dazzled as you wander through this immersive experience filled with the magic and wonder of lantern displays, interactive activities and Instagrammable moments at every turn.

Boston Lights draws inspiration from several natural habitats around the globe, including mountainous plateaus and undersea reefs.

This year, walk through our shimmering mystical forest, which features floral-themed light tunnels, mythical animal designs, and a majestic glowing owl, measuring over 22 feet tall!

Enter a world where the rainforest canopy meets the ocean depths in a burst of brilliant light. Explore the beauty of the rainforest as you walk alongside larger-than-life iguanas, butterflies, frogs and flycatchers.

Excitement awaits as you stroll through vibrant lantern arches and tunnels bursting with luminous flowers and stunning scenery. Travel to the depths of the ocean amongst our colorful reef displays, complete with beautiful lantern sea turtles, jellyfish, shellfish, and more.



Discover China’s rich heritage as you journey through a dazzling array of traditional lanterns, featuring pandas, pheasants, peacocks and dragons. Guests can learn more about the tradition of the Chinese zodiac as they stroll past displays highlighting each unique animal of the yearly zodiac cycle.

Boston Lights illuminates the importance of conserving the incredible biodiversity on our planet. Guests will learn more about our commitment to conservation and ways to participate in wildlife and habitat preservation. Embracing sustainability, the lanterns shine with energy-saving LED lights.
