NSM offers programs in a non-competitive, student centered learning environment from professional musicians with a passion for teaching.

Summer Medley 1: Piano, Singing & Arts
Ages: 6-9 years old

The Summer Medley is a wonderful way to introduce your child to playing a musical instrument! During this half-day, one week program, children ages 6 – 9 years old will learn a simple piano tune or two along with a few fun songs to sing as part of a small ensemble! Session will also integrate movement and musical games to strengthen their musical knowledge. A family & friends showcase will end the week on a high note!

Summer Medley 2: Recorder, Percussion & Arts
Ages: 6-9 years old

The Summer Medley is a wonderful way to introduce your child to playing a musical instrument! During this half-day, one week program, children ages 6 – 9 years old will learn a simple recorder tune or two along with new beats and songs as part of a small percussion ensemble! Session will also integrate movement, singing and musical games to strengthen their musical knowledge. A family & friends showcase will end the week on a high note! Recorder provided.

Summer Medley Full Day Option, Sessions 1 and 2
Ages: 6-9 years old

Want a full day program? Sign-up for both the morning and afternoon sessions for Summer Medley! During the full day, children ages 6 – 9 years old will be able to try, hands-on the piano, recorder, percussion and voice. Session will also integrate movement, singing and musical games to strengthen their musical knowledge. A family & friends showcase will end the week on a high note!


Kids’ Cabaret
Ages: 7-14 years

Throughout this three week musical theater program, kids work in a fun, up-beat, and supportive atmosphere.Classes incorporate singing, acting, and dancing, plus prop and set design. Throughout the program, team-building is integral to the learning process and is explored through theater games, script-writing exercises, and improvisation. The session culminates in performances of songs, scenes, and dance from the musical theater repertoire.


Music in the Digital World: Session 1, Let's Make a Music Video!
Ages: 6-12 years old

Kids ages 6-12 will explore the tools to make music digitally! Throughout the course of the week, kids will help create a music video and try out musical instruments. The week will be filled with lots of fun music themed activities, outdoor games, and free play. We invite families to join us at the end of the week for a viewing of the video! Students with and without musical experience are welcome; we’ll do group activities accordingly.
*This week can be paired with Session 2 for two weeks of digital music discovery!

Music in the Digital World: Session 2, Exploring the Keyboard
Ages: 6-12years old

Kids ages 6-12 will learn basic keyboard skills and explore the many exciting features of creating music on an electronic keyboard. Students with or without previous keyboard/piano experience are welcome. The week will be filled with lots of fun music themed activities, outdoor games, and free play. We invite families to join us at the end of the week for a showcase of what the kids worked on! Students with and without musical experience are welcome; we’ll do group activities accordingly.

*This week can be paired with Session 1 for two weeks of digital music discovery!


Play Me! A Week of Trying Out Musical Instruments
Ages: 6-10

Kids ages 6-10, will have the opportunity to play (each day), all sorts of instruments! Kids will get to try out instruments from the wind and string families along with the piano and others. Incorporated into the day will be activities to run around in the park (weather permitting) and also time to relax and enjoy free-play in a quiet setting to build with legos, create art or enjoy a good book.

Take Mt. Auburn Street out of the square towards Watertown, heading a half mile west. Turn right onto Lowell St., just before the Mt. Auburn Hospital. Parklot on the left.

From Rt. 2
Follow Rt. 2 east past the Alewife T station and around the Fresh Pond rotaries (Rt. 2 becomes Fresh Pond Parkway.) Stay on Rt. 2/Fresh Pond Parkway, crossing Huron Ave. At the next stop light, turn left onto Brattle St. Take the third right onto Lowell St. Park in the lot on the right, just past the school entrance.

By Bus
Take the 71 Watertown or 73 Waverly bus to Mt. Auburn Hospital. Walk around the corner to
Lowell Street. The school will be on the left, number 25.
