Families are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch or dine at one of the local restaurants offering special menus in celebration of the event. Family Play Day is rain or shine; all festivities will be held under a tent.
Family Play Day will feature:
- New England Aquarium walkabouts
- Laughs with Chuckles the Clown, jugglers and stilt walkers
- Puppet Collaborative with life size puppets
- Multicultural music performances by Sugar Foot Band, Inkas Wasi and Zumix
- Fun and creative craft projects
- Youth fitness activities with the YMCA
- Dance performances by Ritmo En Accion
- Tour of Rose F. Kennedy¡¦s birthplace and neighborhood
- A sneak peak of the soon-to-be-released Rose¡¦s Garden ¡V a children¡¦s book featuring the story of the Greenway created by Peter H. Reynolds.
Event sponsors include Faneuil Hall Marketplace, Starbucks Coffee Company and WCRB. Event partners include Candlewick Press, Boston Women¡¦s Heritage Trail, Fablevision, Fort Point Arts Community, Homes for Families, New England Aquarium, North End Music and Performing Arts Center, Volvo Ocean Race Boston, YMCA of Greater Boston and support from the City of Boston and Massachusetts Turnpike Authority.
