This year's celebration will be free and open to all. Entertainment and specialty attractions will be focused in Copley Square and the Boston Common.

Many of the beloved traditions of First Nights past will be retained, including ice sculptures and light displays. In addition, arts and musical performances will take place in numerous inside and outside venues around the heart of the event.

  • Design your own First Night! Its impossible to see everything, so pick a few performances and plan back-up options, in case your first choice is full.

  • Admission to performances is first-come, first-served. Events begin at scheduled times and venues are cleared between performances. There is no reserved seating. Late admission is at the discretion of site management.

  • Roads are closed at the discretion of the Boston Police based on pedestrian traffic flow. Boylston Street, Dartmouth Street and Charles Street (between Boylston and Beacon Streets) are closed beginning at 4:00pm for the Grand Procession. Atlantic Avenue and adjoining streets will be closed later in the evening for the midnight fireworks.

First Night
FN is the most spectacular way to celebrate a new year coming. Artists and performers introduce children to the wonder and miracle of art in all its forms. The city is at its most special when artists enliven every corner and perform in unique venues and on the street. If you've never been to a FN, don't pass up the chance this year to experience the most wonderful afternoon and evening ever.
